[H2SA] Setup issues

Hey, I'm Mejcel, and interested in speedrunning Hitman 2. However I'm having trouble setting up the game, I've tried to search google, steam forums and old H2SA forums for fixes to no avail. I'm thinking you, the speedrunners must have the knowledge how to properly setup the game.
I'm trying to get the game work on 1280x1024 windowed. Seems like you must cap the framerate somehow in order to play the game properly, however vsync in windowed doesn't work for me if I'm using the D3D.gll graphics API. Switching to OpenGL fixes this, however it comes with major loading time lag issues, and what seems to be a common issue, characters appearing black. I googled around and found a widescreen fix, however it doesn't really help as it seems to support only 1680x1050 and 1920x1080.
So my question is this: how have you setup the game? Do you all just play fullscreen or is there a fix I don't know of? Maybe a FPS capper other than vsync? Is it any way possible to get the game running properly under 1280x1024 windowed?
