I'm going to provide as much information as I can about the Hitman Contracts rating system.
I haven't played this game a lot yet so if anything I say is wrong or inaccurate please let me know.
The rating system in Hitman Contracts is similar to the one in Hitman 2: Silent Assassin:
In the final score screen you have your stats and two bars: Stealth and Aggression.
Every stat at the left except the number of saves increase or decrease the value of those bars.
The Stealth bar is by default full and the Aggression bar is by default empty.
I believe that when you finish a mission, the value of the two bars are calculated according to your stats and then a rating is given in relation with the values in Stealth and Aggression.
Stats decreasing stealth and increasing aggression:
Stats decreasing stealth only:
Stats increasing aggression only:
The exact values are currently unknown and may change according to the situation.
Example: If you don't kill or harm anyone, you can fire an infinite number of shots without increasing your aggression level, but if you harm at least one enemy, you can't fire more than 2 shots during the whole mission if you want to keep the Silent Assassin rating.
I made a spreadsheet containing all the maximum combinations you can do and still get the Silent Assassin rank: Spreadsheet
Useful conclusions:
Things to know about the Silent Assassin rating:
The number of possible combinations to get the SA rating is lower than in Hitman 2 because you have to keep the values of Innocents Killed and Innocents Harmed to 0.

Stats decreasing stealth and increasing aggression:
- Close encounters (getting one instantly drops the SA rating on Asylum Aftermath)
Stats decreasing stealth only:
- Alerts
Stats increasing aggression only:
- Shots fired
- Headshots
- Enemies Killed
- Enemies Harmed
- Innocents Killed (getting one instantly drops the SA rating on all missions)
- Innocents Harmed (getting one instantly drops the SA rating on all missions)

Useful conclusions:
- You can't have more than 1 alert.
- You can't kill or harm an innocent.
- You can't have a close encounter + an alert.
- If you kill an enemy you can't fire more than 1 shot.
- You can fire an unlimited number of shots as long as you don't kill or harm anyone.
Things to know about the Silent Assassin rating:
- Killing and a mission target doesn't count as an enemy killed, but headshots are counted (and the bullets as well).
- A close encounter happens as soon as a guard pulls out his gun, even if he doesn't fire at you.
The number of possible combinations to get the SA rating is lower than in Hitman 2 because you have to keep the values of Innocents Killed and Innocents Harmed to 0.
